Global Adult Tobacco Survey result shows a decline in current tobacco use in India

From GATS 1 to GATS 2, the prevalence of smoking has significantly decreased by 4.6% points. The prevalence of smokeless tobacco use has decreased by 1.8% points, however, the decrease is not significant.

The prevalence of any tobacco use has significantly decreased by 2.8% points from 36.3% in GATS 1 to 33.5 in GATS 2.

The Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) is a global standard for systematically monitoring adult tobacco use (smoking and smokeless) and tracking key tobacco control indicators.
