On World No Tobacco Day The Union Advocates for the Banning of e-Cigarettes and Heated Tobacco Product Sales in Low and Middle Income Countries

The Union has publicly advocated for the prohibition of the sale of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products (HTPs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), which are home to more than 80 percent of the world’s smokers. The Union’s support of the ban is based on the release today of its new position paper, ‘Where bans are best: Why LMICs must prohibit e-cigarettes and heated tobacco product sales to truly tackle tobacco’.

A programme on observance of World No Tobacco Day was organized at Uttam Mancha, Kolkata to commemorate the World No Tobacco Day. The programme was graced by Mrs. Mala Roy, Chairperson, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Mr. Debasish Kumar, MMIC, Parks & Gardens, Sports, Advertisement & Car Parking, Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Dr. Arnab Gupta, Director, Saraj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute, Thakurpukur, Kolkata. All speakers were in favour of ban on smoking in public places and requested all to quit tobacco for welfare of our next generation.
