Singer Anupam Roy has done it again. After caressing millions of hearts with his romantic numbers, the Kolkata-based singer has now stood up for a cause, and a noble one at that. Well, no, he has not put up a blood donation camp or a charity concert. The multi-talented musician is doing his bit for the society through what he does best - singing. Roy has lent his voice for a jingle that promotes eradicating tobacco from the country. The jingle composed and sung by him for Tobacco Free Generation - an initiative under the non-profit group, Manbhum Ananda Ashram Nityananda Trust (MANT) - was released last month.

"I am very happy to have done this because I truly believe that tobacco is one.of the biggest enemies of our society. The fact that I am able to do something that can make a difference to people by deterring them from smoking is what makes me feel good," says Roy.

The singer, who is an occasional smoker himself, says that this initiative gives him a drive to call it quits, too. "I have never been a heavy smoker, but certainly once in a while I did take to the drag. Now, with this jingle as I urge people to give up smoking, I will take a little lesson myself, too," says the Amake amar moto thakte dao singer, who forayed into Bollywood with his tuneful renditions in Piku, this year.

More power to you, Anupam!
